Education and Opportunity

Physiotherapist, Adam, had the privilege of heading up to the Tiwi Islands last week to work alongside the Tiwi College high performance athletes with regards to education and opportunity. The Tiwi athletes are phenomenal Australian Rules football players, and they were able to share plenty of tips and advice on this to improve Adam’s game. The education flowed both ways, with Adam learning about the traditional Tiwi culture, language, foods, hunting and gathering. Adam was able to help educate in regards to strength and conditioning, and learning about the transfer of their amazing physical skillset to Olympic sports such as sprinting, long jump and javelin.

Overall, it was an amazing experience all-round and Adam hopes to return to the Tiwis later in the year to continue working alongside the talented athletes that reside there!
